Fafe is a municipality in the district of Braga (sub-region: Ave), covering 219 km² in 25 parishes. 70 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 301 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Fafe, Quinchães and Varziela. 126 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Fafe, Silvares (São Martinho) and Requeixo.
