Castelo de Vide

Castelo de Vide is a municipality in the district of Portalegre (sub-region: Alto Alentejo), covering 265 km² in 4 parishes. 60 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 33 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Castelo de Vide, Nossa Senhora da Graça de Póvoa e Meadas and Quinta do Brejo. 7 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them.
