Portalegre

Portalegre is a municipality in the district of Portalegre (sub-region: Alto Alentejo), covering 447 km² in 7 parishes. 59 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 169 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Portalegre, Alagoa and Fortios. 21 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Freguesia, Quinta and Rabaça.
