Alcoutim

Alcoutim is a municipality in the district of Faro (sub-region: Algarve), covering 575 km² in 4 parishes. Most of it, 81 %, is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 108 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Martim Longo, Giões and Alcoutim. 39 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Cortes Pereiras, Vaqueiros and Álamo.
