Montemor-o-Novo

Montemor-o-Novo is a municipality in the district of Évora (sub-region: Alentejo Central), covering 1,233 km² in 10 parishes. 59 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 169 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Montemor-o-Novo, Foros de Vale de Figueira and Escoural. 22 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Flor da Mata, Vale das Custas and Monte do Vale da Bica.
