Portel

Portel is a municipality in the district of Évora (sub-region: Alentejo Central), covering 601 km² in 8 parishes. 55 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 30 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Portel, Monte do Trigo and São Bartolomeu do Outeiro. None of them has forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around it.
