Paredes de Coura

Paredes de Coura is a municipality in the district of Viana do Castelo (sub-region: Alto Minho), covering 138 km² in 16 parishes. 71 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 193 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Paredes de Coura, Infesta and Ferreira. 60 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Sabariz, Casais and Outeiral.
