Ponte da Barca

Ponte da Barca is a municipality in the district of Viana do Castelo (sub-region: Alto Minho), covering 182 km² in 17 parishes. Most of it — 81 % — is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 175 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Ponte da Barca, Lavradas and Vade (São Pedro). 56 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Paradamonte, Tamente and Ventuzelo.
