Alvito

Alvito is a municipality in the district of Beja (sub-region: Baixo Alentejo), covering 265 km² in 2 parishes. Only 25 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 21 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Alvito, Vila Nova da Baronia and Água de Peixes. One of them has forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around it.
