Ferreira do Alentejo

Ferreira do Alentejo is a municipality in the district of Beja (sub-region: Baixo Alentejo), covering 648 km² in 6 parishes. Only 29 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 56 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Ferreira do Alentejo, Figueira dos Cavaleiros and Alfundão. 2 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Santa Margarida do Sado.
