Baião

Baião is a municipality in the district of Porto (sub-region: Tâmega e Sousa), covering 175 km² in 14 parishes. 68 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 310 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Baião, Frende and Gestaçô. 60 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Loivos do Monte, Carrapatelo and Freixeiro.
