Matosinhos is a municipality in the district of Porto (sub-region: Área Metropolitana do Porto), covering 62 km² in 10 parishes. Only 14 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 70 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Senhora da Hora, Matosinhos and Perafita. 7 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Ponte de Moreira and Monte Grande.
