Santo Tirso

Santo Tirso is a municipality in the district of Porto (sub-region: Área Metropolitana do Porto), covering 137 km² in 14 parishes. 50 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 143 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Vila das Aves, Santo Tirso and Areias. 37 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Cabanas, Redundo and Portela Alta.
