Legal regime in 2026: DL 82/2021 (sub-regional programme approved)
Porto is a municipality in the district of Porto (sub-region: Área Metropolitana do Porto), covering 41 km² in 7 parishes. Only 6 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 11 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Porto, Nevogilde and Granja. 3 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Granja.
