Valongo

Valongo is a municipality in the district of Porto (sub-region: Área Metropolitana do Porto), covering 75 km² in 5 parishes. 58 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 49 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Ermesinde, Valongo and Alfena. 21 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Balselhas, Balsa and Sonhos.
