Fornos de Algodres

Fornos de Algodres is a municipality in the district of Guarda (sub-region: Beiras e Serra da Estrela), covering 132 km² in 12 parishes. 70 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 69 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Fornos de Algodres, Muxagata and Figueiró da Granja. 13 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Corujeira and Ponte Nova.
