Trancoso

Trancoso is a municipality in the district of Guarda (sub-region: Beiras e Serra da Estrela), covering 362 km² in 21 parishes. 65 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 129 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Trancoso, Vila Franca das Naves and Valdujo. 14 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Moinho das Cebolas, Feital and Moreira de Rei.
