Manteigas

Manteigas is a municipality in the district of Guarda (sub-region: Beiras e Serra da Estrela), covering 122 km² in 4 parishes. Most of it, 94 %, is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 14 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Manteigas, Vale de Amoreira and Sameiro. 6 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Sameiro.
