Santa Marta de Penaguião

Santa Marta de Penaguião is a municipality in the district of Vila Real (sub-region: Douro), covering 69 km² in 9 parishes. 40 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 79 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Fontes, Santa Marta de Penaguião and Assento. 13 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Fiolhais, Justos and Paradela do Monte.
