Cartaxo

Cartaxo is a municipality in the district of Santarém (sub-region: Lezíria do Tejo), covering 158 km² in 6 parishes. Only 25 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 218 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Cartaxo, Vila Chã de Ourique and Pontével. 24 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them.
