Torres Novas

Torres Novas is a municipality in the district of Santarém (sub-region: Médio Tejo), covering 270 km² in 10 parishes. 35 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 242 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Riachos, Torres Novas and Pedrógão. 12 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Barreiras and Casal da Torre.
