Alcobaça

Alcobaça is a municipality in the district of Leiria (sub-region: Oeste), covering 408 km² in 13 parishes. 59 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 564 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Benedita, Pataias and São Martinho do Porto. 201 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Azambujeira, Burinhosa and Martingança.
