Caldas da Rainha

Caldas da Rainha is a municipality in the district of Leiria (sub-region: Oeste), covering 256 km² in 12 parishes. 50 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 401 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Caldas da Rainha, Foz do Arelho and Chão da Parada. 116 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Foz do Arelho, Salir do Porto and Casinhas.
