Figueiró dos Vinhos

Figueiró dos Vinhos is a municipality in the district of Leiria (sub-region: Região de Leiria), covering 173 km² in 4 parishes. Most of it, 88 %, is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 165 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Figueiró dos Vinhos, Casal da Fonte and Arega. 79 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Castanheira de Figueiró, Chavelho and Douro.
