Peniche

Peniche is a municipality in the district of Leiria (sub-region: Oeste), covering 78 km² in 4 parishes. Only 28 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 80 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Peniche, Ferrel and Atouguia da Baleia. 12 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them.
