Estarreja is a municipality in the district of Aveiro (sub-region: Região de Aveiro), covering 108 km² in 6 parishes. 34 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 113 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Pardilhó, Avanca and Estarreja. 24 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Carvalhal, Outeiro da Bandeira and Gonde.
