Santa Maria da Feira is a municipality in the district of Aveiro (sub-region: Área Metropolitana do Porto), covering 216 km² in 28 parishes. 53 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 249 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Lourosa, Santa Maria da Feira and Rio Meão. 152 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Lourosa, Santa Maria da Feira and Caldas de São Jorge.
