Mealhada is a municipality in the district of Aveiro (sub-region: Região de Coimbra), covering 111 km² in 8 parishes. 60 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 100 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Pampilhosa do Botão, Mealhada and Antes. 33 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Porta do Luso, Monte Novo and Carvalheiras.
