São João da Madeira is a municipality in the district of Aveiro (sub-region: Área Metropolitana do Porto), covering 8 km² in one parish. Only 21 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
