Castro Daire

Castro Daire is a municipality in the district of Viseu (sub-region: Viseu Dão Lafões), covering 379 km² in 16 parishes. Most of it — 83 % — is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 215 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Castro Daire, Mões and Farejinhas. 77 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them — among them Farejinhas, Moita and Cujó.
