Nelas

Nelas is a municipality in the district of Viseu (sub-region: Viseu Dão Lafões), covering 126 km² in 7 parishes. 60 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 89 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Canas de Senhorim, Nelas and Carvalhal Redondo. 7 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Caldas da Felgueira.
