Mortágua

Mortágua is a municipality in the district of Viseu (sub-region: Região de Coimbra), covering 251 km² in 7 parishes. Most of it, 87 %, is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.

The map finds 142 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Mortágua, Vale de Açores and Sobral. 68 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Marmeleira, Barracão and Ribeira.
