Tondela is a municipality in the district of Viseu (sub-region: Viseu Dão Lafões), covering 371 km² in 22 parishes. 74 % of it is forest land (woodland, scrub or natural pasture, according to the COS 2025 land-cover map): there, the strip around each house is 50 m wide.
The map finds 320 villages (groups of at least 10 buildings); the largest are Tondela, Lajeosa do Dão and Campo de Besteiros. 102 of them have forest land on more than half of the 100 m strip around them, among them Caramulo, Lomba and Silvares.
